Thornbury Squash Club
Welcome to Thornbury Squash Club.
We are a friendly club which welcomes players of all abilities. We offer something for players of all ages and all abilities, from those wishing to take up the game right through to experienced players. Our current age range is 7 to 75. We are based at Thornbury Leisure Centre, South Gloucestershire. There are four courts with a viewing gallery.
Club nights.
Friday night is `turn up and play` club night from 7 until 9. There is no need to book – just pay at reception (cost is currently £3.00). You put your name on the board at the end of the court viewing gallery, the player at the top of the list chooses to play an opponent from the next three names on the board. A game lasts for twenty minutes.
The boxes are an internal league for member which operate on a monthly basis. They allow you to quickly establish regular playing partners of a similar standard as well as meeting new players from boxes above and below. If you are new to the game or new to the area you can play in the boxes for two months before joining the club.
Teams
We field two mixed teams and two ladies teams in the Bristol and District Squash leagues. There are summer and winter leagues and also doubles league during late summer. Enabling you to play team squash all year round if you so desire. Our Publicity Officer ensures that regular news articles are published in the local newspapers such as the Thornbury Gazette.

We operate a junior club. The emphasis is on coaching and enjoyment. Our coaches are qualified to a minimum of England Squash Level 1 and the majority have gone on to obtain the Level 2 qualification. We also have a Level 3 coach. The junior club operates from 5pm until 7pm on Fridays.
Membership
Our annual membership runs from May each year and is £26.00 for single membership. Family, Student and Junior memberships are also available. New members joining during the year pay on a pro-rata basis. The annual membership fee includes affiliation to England Squash. Other benefits include insurance, coaching, competitions, the box leagues and social events (golf days, tours, etc). Membership forms are available on the Squash Club notice board (next to courts) & behind reception.
